The Princess and I Cover Reveal

I know what you're thinking. Wow, two cover reveals in a single month? That's right. Today, I'm joining with several other bloggers in releasing the cover for another book I beta-read, The Princess and I, by Rebekah Eddy.

The Princess and I is an enchanting story of adventure, danger, romance, and heartbreak. Rebekah did a delightful job crafting the plot, and her characters each have unique personalities. I'm so happy to have been one of those privileged to read this before it releases March 3rd. (Rebekah is co-releasing with Jesseca Wheaton's A Question of Honor, which was the other cover reveal I participated in.)

Synopsis

Megan is content with her life, despite her parents' death and her brother Malcolm's job that keeps him busy at the King's castle. But when she is offered the position as Princess Christine's lady-in-waiting, Megan is glad of the change in scenery and accepts it with the hope that she can spend more time with her brother. The promise from Malcolm of lessons in swordsmanship only adds to her enthusiasm.

However, helping keep an eye on the emotional and excitable young lady proves to be much harder than becoming her friend. As rumors of war circulate the castle, Megan strives to encourage her new friend even as she tries to settle the doubts and fears in her own heart when her responsibility in protecting the Princess is put to the test. Follow the unwanted adventure which serves to teach her that loyal friendship, true love, and God's amazing grace will always triumph over revenge, greed, and hate.

Author Bio

Rebekah grew up surrounded by family members who appreciated and read good literature. First, she fell in love with the stories her parents read aloud to her from the Bible and books like The Chronicles of Narnia, Great Expectations, The Hobbit, and Anne of Green Gables. After learning to read on her own, she discovered other fantastic books which helped to build her ever growing imagination.

She completed her first written work at the tender age of eight and now uses it to humble herself whenever the need arises. The story did serve to show her that God had given her a desire to write, however, and from that moment on Rebekah has never looked back or regretted picking up her pencil and becoming an author.

This eighteen-year-old homeschool graduate lives in rainy Western Washington and is currently working on receiving her BA in English in order to further her passion for creating worlds on paper.

The Top Ten Villains Tag

Rebekah from Rebekah's Remarks tagged me awhile back and it's time I catch up on the numerous tags I've been nominated for. So, who do I think of as the top ten villains in fiction? I know I'm going to miss several, but here goes.

1. I was going to start off with Satan although I know that he has already been done by several people, but I don't know how you can do this post and NOT say Satan. He is the ultimate villain. The real-life villain. The threat to all us Christians. However, because villains are supposed to be fictional, I chose Nicolae Carpathia, the Anti-Christ from the Left Behind series. Yes, I know that the Anti-Christ will be real, but Carpathia isn't and is quite the villain.
2. Captain Mortimer. He's the other one I can't help but say. You are probably wondering who this guy is, and in answer: he is the villain of my story, A Pirate's Tale. I haven't written too much with him yet, but I have every hope that he will turn out to be a super villain, one worthy of this post. :-)
3. Again, I know that this character has already been mentioned, but I had to choose one from Star Wars, and the biggest villain there is Darth Sidious. He is so evil. A "wonderful" example of a villain—cunning, cruel, heartless.
4. Agh, I feel like I am copying Rebekah's post because she mentioned this one too but I cannot leave this villain out of my post. The White Witch from Narnia is basically a representation of Satan. She is developed in both the books and movies as a cold-hearted (she does have a heart, but not much of one) and wicked enemy of the protagonist and Aslan. The stark contrast between Aslan and the White Witch makes her evilness stand out dramatically.
5. King Respen and the Blades from the series by Tricia Minkerink, The Blades of Acktar. This series is so good, by the way. The Blades are trained killers for the king. Need I say more? They don't question orders and don't hesitate to spill blood.
6. The Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz is quite the "bad guy." Isn't her cackle so creepy?
7. Don't laugh: Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations. I mean, killing poor, innocent puppies for their fur? I think she traumatized me when I was little. :)
8. The Pale Orc from the movie The Hobbit. He seeks only to kill, steal, and destroy. Sound like someone else who was at the top of this list?
9. Arnold Ernst Toht from the first Indiana Jones movies is another villain high on my list. He stalks the good guys and only wants the treasure.
10. Merek from The Silent Blade. If the definition of a villain is evil, seeking to kill the protagonists, and wanting to inflict maximum harm wherever he goes, Merek fulfills all three requirements and more.
11. Yes, I'm going to cheat and add an eleventh villain. Zirtan from the Makilien Trilogy is a well-done villain. Evil describes him well.
12. And . . .  a twelfth. Captain Francis Kelly from The Pirate Daughter's Promise is a ruthless, cruel, and greedy pirate. Another excellent example of a villain.

Favorite Books

Awhile back I was tagged to answer a few questions about my favorite books/series/authors, etc. I'd love to hear your answers to these questions too! Enjoy!
 

What are your top two favorite books?

Makilien Trilogy

I don't think that I could pick—honestly. But if I had to choose some of my favorites would be The Pirate Daughter's Promise, Every Tear, Truth, Courage, and Trust, all by Molly Evangeline. Also Heartbreak Trail, by Susan Marlow and a not-yet-published book by a friend. (You know who you are :D)

What are your top two favorite series?

Probably the Makilien Trilogy by Molly Evangeline and the Circle C books by Susan K. Marlow. However, there are many, many series that rank high on my list of favorites. They would include the whole Black Stallion and Island Stallion series by Walter Farley and the Pirates and Faith series by Molly Evangeline. I also really like the Golden Filly series by Lauraine Snelling. The Chronicles of Narnia are also high on my list with the Left Behind series.

Who is your favorite fictional character?

Pirates and Faith Series

Other than Amber or Maddie, the main characters in two of my own stories, it would have to be either Andrea Carter from the Circle C series mentioned above, or Makilien from the Makilien Trilogy also mentioned above.

If any one of your favorite books could be made into a movie which one would you want it to be?

I would personally love to direct a movie of the Makilien Trilogy myself (then I would be certain that it would be made right!) The others that I would really like to see would be good movies of each of the books in the Chronicles of Narnia.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I don't have any one particular favorites. I like reading contemporary, mystery, somewhat fantasy (to the extent of The Lord of the Rings). Mostly, I love adventure and if I can find that in a historical fiction novel, a well-written biography in novel form, or anywhere else, I'll read it!

Do you have a favorite author?

This is a DANGEROUS question to ask a book lover. Very, very dangerous. So, the answer is no. I do not have A favorite author. I have many. So, now you get my list . . . hang on tight and don't fall asleep on me!

1. I have to start with my Grandpa, Randall Reinstedt. He writes fascinating California history books. And no, I am not just being partial. I really do enjoy what he writes!
2. I enjoy anything by Jerry B. Jenkins
3. A new author that I discovered and LOVE is Molly Evangeline, aka. Jaye L. Knight

5. Susan K. Marlow

Is there a book that you can hardly wait for it to come out?

Well, for starters, The Silent Blade, and A Question of Honor, by Jesseca Dawn. Also, the fourth book in the Circle C Milestones series by Susan K. Marlow. I am also eager for the third book in the Ilyon Chronicles series by Jaye L. Knight.
 

What was one of your favorite childhood books?

The many books written by Bill Peet. They are fun childrens' stories mostly about animals. Another book that was special to my mom and me was "The Kissing Hand."

What was one of you favorite books when you were late elementary to middle school age?

I really like/liked the High Hurdles series by Lauraine Snelling. I read the entire 10 book series twice! I also like/liked the Trixie Belden series, Red Rock Mysteries, and the Wormling series in addition to the Winnie the Horse Gentler series.

What is your favorite book of the Bible?
I really like 1 and 2 Timothy because it is a reminder to me that even young people can do great things for God!
