May the 4th Be With You!

Happy National Star Wars Day! I still have an April highlights post coming and several others that I have wanted to do, but we had a family emergency and I've been super busy. However, I couldn't miss the opportunity of this wonderful day to ask you a few questions that you can answer in the comments if you'd like:

Do you like Star Wars?
Do you prefer Star Wars or Star Trek?
Which Star Wars movies have you watched?
Have you read any of the Star Wars books?
Which is your favorite movie?
If you have watched The Force Awakens, did you enjoy it? Why or why not?
If you have watched The Force Awakens, what were your thoughts on Kylo Wren?
Who are your top favorite characters out of the movies?
Who are your least favorite characters out of the movies?
What are your thoughts on Jar-Jar Binks?

Here are my answers to the questions:
Do you like Star Wars?
I'll let you take a wild guess of my answer here . . . .
Do you prefer Star Wars or Star Trek?
Star Wars!!! I've seen only one Star Trek.
Which Star Wars movies have you watched?
All seven. :D
Have you read any of the Star Wars books?
No, but I have one on my TBR shelf.
Which is your favorite movie?
I enjoyed them all except numbers three and seven. (chronologically) If I had to pick a favorite it would probably be four, five, or six.
If you have watched The Force Awakens, did you enjoy it? Why or why not?
I went to see it on my birthday, as some of you may remember. I did not like it near as much as the others because the plot was just messed up and there were a ton of holes. (Spoiler Alert: Han Solo should NOT have died.)
If you have watched The Force Awakens, what were your thoughts on Kylo Wren?
He was the wimpiest villain I've ever seen. End of story. Sorry to all you who love him.
Who are your top favorite characters out of the movies?
All the traditional ones, Anikin Skywalker (when he was little), Padme, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobe, the droids ;), etc.
Who are your least favorite characters out of the movies?
Kylo Wren at the top. And of course, I don't like many of the villains: Emperor Palpatine, Jabba the Hut, General Grevious, etc.
What are your thoughts on Jar-Jar Binks?
Despite popular opinion, I kinda like him. Yes, a bit annoying, but funny.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Star Wars movies! Have a good day and I would value your prayers for my mom; I don't feel comfortable sharing details at this time. Thank you!

Also, the baby birds I mentioned previously are gone from the nest and we assume that they flew away!

Rachel Starr Thomson is hosting a giveaway on her blog with several Jaye L. Knight books, and many other Kindle books. I highly encourage you to enter! Some of the books she is giving away include a few of her own. I have read two of her books and loved them! I also really like Jaye L. Knight's writing.

Thanks for reading! Happy National Star Wars Day!

    1. You must watch Star Wars, at LEAST give it a try! :)

I read Hive and Exile in her Oneness series. I hope to buy Attack and read that next. I also have book 1 in her Worlds Unseen series.

    3. Which of the ones you've read have you enjoyed most?

    4. "Journey" is a super short (like 25 pages) allegory, similar to "Pilgrim's Progress". "Heart to Heart" is kind of like a Bible study of the Lord's Prayer. I liked both very much, but "Heart to Heart" was probably my favorite. :)

    5. I have "Journey" too and hope to read it soon. I'll check out "Heart to Heart", thank you!

  2. From Jessica R.--

Do you like Star Wars? Love it!

Do you prefer Star Wars or Star Trek? Star Wars

Which Star Wars movies have you watched? all of them

Have you read any of the Star Wars books? around a dozen

Which is your favorite movie? Empire Strikes Back for story; Return of the Jedi for nostalgia

If you have watched The Force Awakens, did you enjoy it? Why or why not? It was okay. They had major casting and writing mistakes with Kylo Ren. Everything else just seemed to be the major players all taking a bow, without enough R2D2. I did love it when C3PO appeared and Chewbacca got a lot of funny screen time. I don't know. I just thought it was okay.

If you have watched The Force Awakens, what were your thoughts on Kylo Wren? He's lame. Seriously. It was a terrible cast, and whoever was writing his character went back and forth on Kylo Ren's level of skill and power. How is he supposed to be the ultimate bad guy? He's whiny (and not in a Luke is whiny in an endearing way) and randomly lacks skill.

Who are your top favorite characters out of the movies? I love all of them from the original 3, but if I can only pick one... I'll go with Yoda from the original 3, Obi Wan from the prequel 3, and BB8 from the new one. From the books universe, I'll go with Mara Jade.

Who are your least favorite characters out of the movies? Kylo Ren, obviously. Jar Jar Binks -- again, no surprises there. Occasionally, Padma bothered me, but I think it's again due to poor screenwriting. When I was younger, the Emperor gave me nightmares. Also, you know that little puppet who lived in the palace of Jabba the Hut (he poked out C3PO's eye)? His name is Salacious B. Crumb. I hate that guy.

    This was fun :)

What are your thoughts on Jar-Jar Binks? I've sort of come to enjoy how much everyone hates him. It's his thing now. He's just fun to make fun of.

  3. Also from Jessica R.

I read your comments after answering the questions myself. I'm glad we are of the same opinion on Kylo Ren. Totally not a good villain! And how did Leia not make the cut on your list of favorites?! She's way cooler than Padme. Ah, well. Agree to disagree.

    1. I totally agree with you regarding The Force Awakens. Kylo Wren was horrible. :( Didn't even make my list of favorite villains.

Do you recommend any of the Star Wars books you read?

As far as Leia, she's cool, and I like her a lot, but I already put down a bunch of the traditional ones. There are just some aspects of her personality that don't sit super well with me...not sure why.

Thank you so much for commenting!

As I told Faith, you have to at least try to watch Star Wars. If you don't like it, oh well, but you must try. :)

  7. Hi Bethany! I'm showing my age, but I like Star Trek the best, of course. Star Trek came to life when I was in middle school so I literally grew up on the tv series. I do love Star Wars as well, but my favorites are the first and second movies. After the third movie (which really disappointed me) I gave up on the series. I haven't read any of the books, but I know Andy has. It is amazing how many Star Wars and Star Trek books are out there. You'll have to check out the 2nd floor library and see all the different authors that have contributed to that book series. It's quite impressive. Happy Star Wars Day - I hope it is out of this world for you!!!
    Love,
    Carla
